so it goes.

I'm a fan of trashy reality tv, twinkle lights and all things Indiana.

Built in the 1840s, The Old Gimbel Store was the flagship store of Gimbel’s, the one of the first major department stores in the USA—at one point, the largest in the US and host of the oldest Thanksgiving Day Parade (it eventually became the NBC Boscov parade).  The chain closed in the 1980s.

In modern times, the flagship store has been an antique store, but retained its distinct facade and architecture.

Approximately a block is lost.  On the back of Gimbel’s is a mural depicting Vincennes’s history that was done in the 70s and restored in 2005.  As of midnight, it was okay and I think it cold be salavaged if the wall is stable.  However, the “fronts” of three stores are gone.  The tallest structure is a 1917 6-story building, and last I checked it’s sustained damage but is fine otherwise.
